One principle that defines POGIL as a teaching strategy is the explicit emphasis on the development of process skills as a component of the student learning experience.  These skills are often called soft skills, workplace skills, or professional skills, and employers often cite them as critical for an effective workforce. The ability to engage in these processes is crucial for students to succeed in active learning environments.

In this "back by popular demand" session, facilitators Caryl Fish (St. Vincent College - Latrobe, PA) and Juliette Lantz (Drew University -  Madison, NJ) will discuss "Assessing Process Skills." Fish and Lantz will include discussion and activities on:

  1. How students reveal evidence of process skills during classroom interactions.
  2.  The use of rubrics to assess process skills in student interactions.
  3. The use of rubrics to provide feedback to students on process skills development.
Registration for this event is limited to 30 people.  Registrants will be sent a Zoom meeting invitation approximately 1 week prior to the session.  Please note the session begins at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (4:00 PM Pacific Time).
