Cost: FREE to high school teachers who register to be part of the week long WaterWorks workshop. Each participating teacher will receive an honorarium of $500, and - in an effort to facilitate classroom implementation of instructional labs developed during the workshop - will be provided with a starter kit of supplies to take back to their school. Clock hours will also be available upon completion of the workshop.

Description: This Summer workshop will introduce participants to the exciting and increasingly important field of Environmental Engineering, with special focus on the science and technologies we utilize to ensure the safety of our drinking water supplies. These workshops are held with support from the National Science Foundation, with the goal of helping to motivate and educate the next generation of environmental engineers. By engaging high school teachers in an interactive, informative, and fun laboratory setting , we aim to highlight how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) principles taught at the high school level are linked to engineering practice, as well as to provide participants with exposure to cutting-edge research in water sciences and engineering. In line with the mission of the NSF to broaden participation in science and engineering disciplines, we highly encourage applications from teachers at schools with large proportions of students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
