One principle that defines POGIL as a teaching strategy is the explicit emphasis on the development of process skills as a component of the student learning experience.  These skills are often called soft skills, workplace skills, or professional skills, and employers often cite them as critical for an effective workforce. The ability to engage in these processes is crucial for students to succeed in active learning environments.

In this second of three web-based sessions focusing on Process Skills, facilitator Juliette Lantz will discuss "Assessing Process Skills." Lantz, Associate Dean of Curriculum and Professor of Chemistry at Drew University will include discussion and activities on:

  1. How students reveal evidence of process skills during classroom interactions.
  2.  The use of rubrics to assess process skills in student interactions.
  3. The use of rubrics to provide feedback to students on process skills development.
Registration for this event is limited to 24 people.  Registrants will be sent a Zoom meeting invitation prior to the webinar.  Please note that the webinar begins at 6:30 PM EDT.
