One principle that defines POGIL as a teaching strategy is the explicit emphasis on the development of process skills as a component of the student learning experience.  These skills are often called soft skills, workplace skills, or professional skills, and employers often cite them as critical for an effective workforce. The ability to engage in these processes is crucial for students to succeed in active learning environments.

In this first of three webinar sessions, facilitator Urik Halliday of Von Steuben Metropolitan Science Center (Chicago) will discuss "Developing Process Skills."  Halliday will include discussions and activities on:

  1. When to introduce a process skill or skills and when to begin implementing the development of a process skill or skills.
  2. Which process skills should be developed first and why (teamwork, oral-written communication, information processing.)
  3. How to begin the development of these process skills.
Registration for this event is limited to 24 people.  Registrants will be sent a Zoom meeting invitation prior to the webinar.  Please note that the webinar begins at 6:30 PM EST.
